Our difference compared to classic natural mosquito repellents is in a "simple" but very effective formulation, far from the overbidding of essential oils with dubious and sometimes dangerous effectiveness.

The key to Crusoe's effectiveness is not found in its list of ingredients, but in Professor Claude Grison's identification of a specific synergy that increases tenfold the PMD , the active molecule of citriodiol, and which makes the "blend of active ingredients" in our spray particularly effective.

Finally, our products are pleasant to use on a daily basis because they do not leave a thick layer on the skin, are not sticky and have a pleasant smell.

Claude Grison is a Research Director at the CNRS and heads the Bio-inspired Chemistry and Ecological Innovations laboratory at the origin of Crusoé. Today, it is the company Laboratoires Bioprotection, of which she is the scientific director, which develops Crusoé products.

Prof. Claude Grison is particularly renowned for her ecological and bio-inspired innovations and has studied the olfactory mechanism of mosquitoes for 3 years. After more than 4000 tests, she developed a plant-based active ingredient derived from a synergy of organic essential oils known for their repellent properties via an environmentally friendly process.

We carried out the engorgement rate test at the Vectopôle in Montpellier. This test highlights the number of mosquitoes that have bitten a skin on which the active ingredient in an ethanol solution has been applied.

In the case of PMD, 24% of mosquitoes bit, which represents an effectiveness of 76%. In the case of DEET, 18% of mosquitoes bit, which represents an effectiveness of 82%. In the case of our active ingredient, only 3% of mosquitoes bit the skin, which represents an effectiveness of 97%. 3% of bites is 7 times more effective than the average between PMD and DEET!
